What to Expect

Prior to your appointment (ideally the day before via telephone) I will complete a Covid-19 Pre-Treatment Questionnaire and a Client Consultation/lifestyle form with you. I can also email this to you ahead of time; you can complete and email back or bring with you on the day. This will include any medication you may be taking at the moment. All information is held in strict confidence. Please can you wear a face mask (unless you’re exempt from wearing one).

Your appointment will last up to 1 hour 15 min. It is important to drink plenty of water and to avoid drinking any alcohol or taking any recreational drugs prior to your treatment.
For your safety and to maintain social distancing, I ask that you attend your appointment as close to the appointment time as possible. Please do not turn up early for your appointment as this may mean that you come into contact with other clients who are just leaving.

The treatment will be carried out on a comfortable treatment couch, you will remain fully clothed throughout, although you will need to take shoes off and keep socks on. Coats/shoes and bags will need to be left in a designated spot. I also offer a seated treatment as well if lying down is uncomfortable for you.

The treatment is mostly hands on but there are some exceptions where I will hold my hands over your body. If you would prefer to not be touched at all please let me know prior to the treatment starting.

I will try to make your treatment as safe, comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you have any concerns about your treatment, please let me know and I will do what I can to assist you.

Most people experience warmth or a cooling sensation during the treatment. The majority of people find it a very relaxing and soothing experience – some even enjoy having a sleep.
When providing Reiki on animals I will come to you or where the animal is. An Animal Client Consultation Form will need to be completed prior to the session starting. It is also good practice for you to contact your Vet and make sure they are happy for your animal to receive Reiki.

Animal Reiki

Often Reiki sessions with animals may start with Reiki from a distance, if the animal chooses to accept the Reiki energy the animal may approach the Practitioner and then it may turn into a hands on session. It’s fairly common as well for the animal to move around until your hands are where they want them to be. The great thing about using Reiki on animals is that you can ‘see’ it working. Your pet will most likely relax, he may sit or lie down, you may hear his stomach gurgle or he may pass wind. Some animals will lie down and go into a deep sleep next to the practitioner. Different types of animals can react in different ways, for example, some may not show as many signs of relaxation during their first treatment, however, they will often lie down to sleep after the treatment when they are alone. They also tend to be quite thirsty so please make sure there’s plenty of water for them to drink.

There is no minimum number of treatments required; some people only have a few, others more over a period of time. With animals it is better to have a few sessions as it can take a bit longer for the animal to accept and benefit from the Reiki.

If I or any members of my household feel ill or have symptoms of Covid-19, I will self-isolate immediately and not work. This may mean that I have to cancel your appointment at short notice. I appreciate that this may be inconvenient, but it is done entirely for your own safety. If your appointment is cancelled, you will be able to re-book again or ask for a full refund. If you or any of the people you live with feel ill or display any symptoms of Covid-19 please advise me as soon as possible and DO NOT ATTEND YOUR TREATMENT.

Please note; you will not be charged for any appointments which you miss due to illness/suspected illness.

Aftercare Advice and Info Sheet

If you feel unwell or experience any symptoms of Covid-19 within 14 days of your treatment please can you contact me as soon as possible and proceed with the current Government issued guidance as appropriate.

It is important to note that your Reiki practitioner cannot diagnose any illnesses or conditions. We can advise that you visit your GP if there is anything in particular that is of concern to you. We also don’t prescribe how many treatments you may need. Some clients come for a few treatments, others many more over a period of years.

Most people will feel relaxed and soothed during their session and most continue to enjoy that feeling after the treatment has concluded. Others feel full of energy and are raring to go! It is important to drink plenty of water and to avoid drinking any alcohol or taking any recreational drugs.

As Reiki works on so many levels on occasion some people may experience a ‘healing reaction’. This may be the result of an energy release or if you’re coming down with a cold the Reiki energy will have speeded up the process and may make the cold come on more quickly. This is normal and will pass. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sam is absolutely amazing.  I was a little nervous about my first session but Sam put me at ease straight away.  I feel so relaxed after leaving her.  Thanks Sam.  Glad I found you!
